The Special Education Principals' and Leaders' Association held their 2016 Annual Conference from Monday, 18th to Wednesday, 20th July, at the Novotel Sydney in Parramatta.
The theme for the 2016 conference was 'Leadership Now Intent V Impact'.
Special educators came together and shared what really works with students with additional learning needs - learning from those who are innovating in their schools and classrooms every day. Delegates were able to share with other teachers and leaders the ways to make school changes that have real impact. It was a wonderful conference and professional learning journey where moving good intentions into teaching, learning and leading that provide great impact in our schools and communities was the focus!
In 2016 the Teachers' Day was held on Monday, 18th July which was the Term 3 School Development Day, allowing as many special educators as possible the opportunity to attend without the cost of school release. Tuesday, 19th July and Wednesday, 20th July focused on the professional learning of school leaders and administrators at all career levels in special education.
Delegates across the three days were inspired by fantastic professional learning and great collegial company. Professional relationships and networks were built and used to turn good intentions into great opportunities that have impact in schools. Everybody enjoyed exchanging expertise in special education and leadership. The 2016 SEPLA conference was a wonderful opportunity for special educators to come together, enhance their wellbeing and professional resilience by taking some time for professional learning and reflection.
